Valentines Day is just around the riverbend!
So, who is your Valentine? WAIT!
Before you answer, think about this:
Is your valentine somebody you would show to your mother, father, and siblings?
Is your valentine kind to you and honest?
Is your valentine a Christian like you?
Is your valentine somebody you would show to God?
If you answered yes to all of these, then great! If not, think about it. It is so important that your mushy wushy, lovey dovey, honey bunny is as crazy about God as you are. I’m not saying to go dump them on the street in a cardboard box in the rain, but to really observe your relationship.
If your valentine isn’t physically and spiritually presentable to your family, then it’s going to be hard for you to marry them. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t love them if their not attractive, but I mean physically presentable as in not showing lots and lots of skin on a regular basis or wearing inappropriate items.
If your valentine isn’t kind, loving, honest, or even an interest in marrying you someday, I believe that, unless God came down and told you that you are to marry them, it’s best you say goodbye. Usually, a valentine is somebody you show interest in and they show interest in you back. Interest usually leads to dating, and dating usually leads to courting, and courting leads to marriage. If you aren’t going to marry them someday, don’t bother with your time.
If your valentine isn’t a Christian and ecstatic about God and you are, then here is the deal breaker. Okay, try this:
Stand on a chair. Have a friend stand on the floor in front of you. Both of you have to try with all of your might to pull each other up/off.
Unless your super strong, you most likely got pulled off of the chair. This is an example of the Christian + Atheist relationship. It is easier to be led away by a mule than to drag it to water. It is also easier for your faith to be demolished rather than for you to help them build their faith.
Finally, if you wouldn’t show them to God, then you are ashamed of loving them.
You shouldn’t stop loving them as a sibling through Christ, but you shouldn’t veer off of the path or go on the edge of the cliff to love them.
Unless God gives you results that clearly and totally prove that you should lift them up, I suggest that it’s best you lose interest.
Wait: don’t lose interest in love! Hear what I have to say really quickly!
ORIGIN OF VALENTINES DAY:
St. Valentine was a Roman Christian who, according to tradition, was martyred during the persecution of Christians in the third century by Emperor Claudius II. The only thing certain about the day we remember as St. Valentine’s Day.
Valentine shows us what true love is all about: God! True love is putting somebody else’s needs before yours! So, since God is love, we ought to seek Him out!
Before you go back to making arrows, eating SweetHearts™, and cutting out cute paper roses, ask your Almighty God to be your valentine this year!
Sincerely, Faithfully, Truthfully,
💓 Hope 💓
